Ymddengys fod cerflun o Sean Russell, aelod o'r IRA gyfarfu gyda'r Natsiaid er mwyn trefnu ymgyrch yr IRA yn Iwerddon yn ystod rhyfel 1939 - 45 wedi cael ei falu gan ymgyrchwyr gwrth hiliaeth Gwyddelig. Yn benodol fe dorrwyd pen y cerflun oedd mewn parc yn Nulyn.
Yn ol canolfan Simon Wisenthal fe ddylid cadw y cerflun maluriedig fel arwydd o gydnabyddiaeth Cenedlaetholdeb Gwyddelig o'r cysylltiadau wnaethpwyd rhwng yr IRA a llywodraeth Hitler. Fel y dywedodd un o staff y ganolfan, Shimon Samuels;
"It's a blot on the history of Irleand, but blots have to see the public light. [This action] is an opportunity for Ireland to confront it's past. We are not iconclasts but I think the destruction of something like this has a meaning and we would ask for it [the statue] to be left there as a lesson of what Irish neutrality was all about"
Yn ol y mudiad gwrth natsiaidd sy'n hawlio cyfrifoldeb am y weithred;
"We could no longer tolerate the shameful presence of a memorial to the Nazi collaborator...Russell sought to overthrow the Goverment of the Free State whilst aiming to ferment terror and sabotage in the North of Ireland. In Belfast IRA volunterers were ordered to help the Luftwaffe to bomb their own city at a cost of 2,000 dead and thousand made homeless"
Gwych yw gweld y Gwyddelod yn cydnabod fod ganddynt hanes yn hytrach na'r myth o ormes parhaol Prydeinig sy'n amlwg wedi ei lyncu 110% gan gyfranwyr cenedlaetholgar (a di-drais debyg) o fewn Maes e.
